Minor A Football Championship

St. James Aldergrove 1-11 All Saints 0-9

St. James Aldergrove repeated their league win over visitors All Saints last month when they once again proved too good for the Ballymena side in Tuesday’s MFC meeting in Crumlin last night.

Corner forward, Glen Dunham was the man who did the greatest damage, finishing with 1-2 and with Conor Morris on the ‘40’ and Mick Blaney scoring 0-3 apiece they had too much in attack for an overworked All Saints defence.

All Saints gave it everything with Conor Stewart, Conor O’Rawe, Sean O’Callaghan, Oisin Connolly, Aidan Scullion and Ronan McKillop to the fore but were never able to find a way past Oisin McGarry for the goal that might have ignited their challenge.

McGarry marshalled a strong Aldergrove defence where David Aiken, Eoin Gough and Eoin Hamill gave nothing away while Emmet Ervine and Oisin Graham had a good battle with Stewart and O’Rawe in the All Saints mid-field.

The Crumlin side have had  a descent run in the league and on this showing will prove a match for most sides in the championship. They face a tough quarter-final however as they are drawn against league leaders, Tir na nOg on the 3d September, the Whitehill lads recording a high scoring win over Creggan last night.
