Tir na nOg faced a strong unbeaten Glenavy team who had defeated them earlier in the season. The home side started well with great intensity and with Conor Hastings in fine shooting form they quickly took the lead. Glenavy came back into it and both teams exchanged scores but at the break the Whitehill side held a slender 2 point lead.
The second half was again tight and with Sean Grant covering every blade of grass and Kain Devine outstanding in defence it meant with 10 minutes left there was only 2 points separating the sides Tir na nOg came strong and put in a great last 10 minutes and goals by Joshua Higgins and Alex O’Donnell saw them record an excellent victory.
This win moves Tir na nOg two points ahead of Thursday night’s opponents as the Whitehill side move to top of the division but Glenavy still have their fate in their own hands as they have two games in hand over the Randaltown side.
