Minor and U16 Football Championships continue this week

A busy week ahead on the championship front with the Minor Football Championship scheduled for tomorrow night (Tuesaday) and the U`16 Football Championship continuing on Thursday night.

The minor championship throws up a really intersting encounter and one that would have made an excellent final is down for decision on Tuesday evening with top two in the minor league, Tir na nOg and Aldergrove meeting in Crumlin.

Aldergrove and Tir na Nog have hinted at their potential so far this season and their meeting looks more than intriguing and will certainly attract a good crowd to the Crumlin venue.

The St James lads having brought the unbeaten league run of the Randalstown side to an end last time out will start this championship affair as slight favourites on their own turf but this one could go either way.

Sarsfield’s play hosts to Cargin and the Bear Pit residents having gained the verdict over the Toome lads in their league meeting a few weeks back will start as favourites to see off the same opposition on this occasion.

Last year’s beaten finalists St Gall’s meet up with St Paul’s and may struggle to fend off the challenge of the Shaw’s road side whilst St Brigid’s will start favourites when they travel to Con Magees

In the B section St Enda’s who are playing well in division two may well gain the verdict over the visiting Johnnies with Rossa given the nod in their visit to Hannahstown and Glenavy may well prove strong enough to deal with the challenge of combination side, Black Mountain Gaels.

In the under-16 A championship Cargin play hosts to Rossa in what may well be a close one with Moneyglass travelling up the Sarsfield’s in the second Town v Country affair.

St Joseph’s Glenavy again play hosts to the combination side Black Mountain Gaels in the B section with St Paul’s to pay a visit to Hannahstown to meet up with Lamh Dhearg.
