O’Cahan Cup Replay tomorrow night

Thornton Roofing O’Cahan Cup final replay

Portglenone 8-00 pm

Creggan v Ahoghill

As we finally draw breath following last night’s Senior Football championship semi-final replay in Ballymena another replay has been announced. All Saints GAC did a splendid job in hosting the second replay of the SFC between Lamh Dhearg and Portglenone and finally we got a result.

The three game trilogy between last night’s protagonists has whetted the appetite of the crowds who travelled to Creggan, the Dub and finally to Quinn Park while Cargin have waited quietly in the background to see who they will meet on Sunday at Corrigan.

That small matter was finalised last night by Lamh Dhearg veteran corner forward Paddy Cunningham with two quick-fire goals at the start the second half and now it’s back to unfinished business in the O’Cahan Cup.

The first game, a couple of weeks ago ended prematurely when an injury to Ahoghill’s Martin Graham brought matters to a halt after only seven minutes play. An ambulance was called and after a wait of over 40 minutes the Ahoghill mid-fielder was removed to hospital with both teams leaving the field at that stage.

Creggan were leading 1-2 to 0-0 at that stage and had dominated tghe opening exchanges and will be keen to get the job finished this time while Ahoghill will need a better start if the harbour hopes of O,Cahan Cup success.

The South West committee have re-fixed the game for tomorrow night in Portglenone and have followed the example of the county committee for last night’s game in Ballymena. There will not be an admission charge to the O’Cahan Cup final, however there will be a collection at the gate in memory of Paul McKeever which will be donated to Cancer Focus and Friends of Cancer Centre.

U12 Shield Final

The Thomas Devlin U12 Shield final between St. Enda’s and Roger Casements has also been fixed and will take place this Sunday at 12-00 in Whitehill on Sunday, 6th October.
