Antrim GAA helped to raise over £16,000 at the Walk Together in Belfast on Saturday 7 September to raise money for Bowel Cancer UK’s vital services and lifesaving research in the North.Antrim GAA recruited seven GAA clubs, many of whom have been affected by bowel cancer, to join Walk Together in Belfast – a five mile walk starting at the Lock Keepers Inn and following the Lagan towpath along the riverside and old canal system through the peaceful and diverse woodlands.The club with the most registrations was awarded to Sarsfield’s GAC who had over 80 members sign up and won a set of jersey’s, kindly sponsored by O’Neill’s sportswear.
Sean Kelly, Antrim GAA PRO, said: “I’m delighted that Antrim GAA clubs really got behind this fundraising event and supported all the men and women and their families that have been affected by bowel cancer. We’ll make sure this event is firmly in the calendar for next year.”

Niamh McDaid, Senior Services Officer for Bowel Cancer the the north, says: “A huge thank you to Sean and everyone at Antrim GAA for their support for our Walk Together event. It was our biggest event in the country with over 350 walkers and it was due to their amazing effort.”The seven GAA clubs that joined Walk Together in Belfast are: Ruairi Og Cushendall, Sarsfields Belfast, Naomh Éanna Glengormley, Naomh Eoin Belfast, Con Magees Glenravel , St. Mary’s Ahoghill and Rossa Belfast
