Ulster Ladies Football Minor Club Championship
Moneyglass (Antrim) 5-7 Kinawley (Fermanagh) 4-5
Moneyglass girls secured their place in the quarter final of the Ulster Minor Club Football Championship when they beat Fermanagh Champions Kinawley in Sunday’s preliminary round at Slemish Park, Ballymena. In a hard fought game the St Ergnat’s girls led by 2-3 to 2-1 at half time against a very good Kinawley side. The battle continued in the second half with the Antrim champions getting on top to run out winners by 5-7 to 4-5.
There was little between the sides in the opening half but goals from centre forward Maria O’Neill and midfielder Aoife Kelly proved vital as they opened up a 2-3 to 2-1 lead by the break.

That ability to get goals was a major factor in the win and three more in the second half from Niamh McKeefrey, Hannah Murray and Maria O’Neill saw them safely home with five points to spare.
Forwards Hannah Murray , Niamh McKeefry and Niamh Martin all had good games, while strong midfielders Aoife Kelly and Emma Louise McAreavey both played very well and contributed to the scoreboard . Maria ONeill was again a real threat to the opposition and scored two goals, while her sister Sarah linked up well with a strong back line.
The girls now face a quarter final against Monaghan champions Donaghmoyne in two weeks’ time.
