Glenravel 0-14    Aldergrove 2-08
Aldergrove grabbed a late equaliser from a thirty yard free with the last kick of a game which saw the lead change hands a few times; a draw was probably a fair result though the home team may have thought they were home when Conleth O’Loan pointed them ahead in injury time. The task to draw level fell to James Trowlen and he cooly scored from out the left hand side to square the match and give each team a share of the points.
Aldergrove came out of the traps flying and were a goal to the good after a minute. Aodhan O’Donnell got Glenravel off the mark on 5 minutes with  a free and Conleth O’Loan scored a second after a lovely dinked pick up.

O’Donnell again scored from a free to level the game before Eamon Fyfe put the home team ahead with a nice score from play. Big Ryan Owens, the powerful Aldergrove midfielder put the teams level again but again O’Donnell stretched the home team lead by one point with a well taken free. At this stage Seamus McGarry, Aldergrove’s influential centre half forward was getting into his stride and he pointed the visitors level with a free. McGarry would go on to record 1-06 in the game for Aldergrove, the points all coming from placed balls. Eamon Fyfe restored Glenravel’s lead on seventeen minutes and it would be a further six minutes before Aodhan O’Donnell stretched the home team lead to two points. However in the closing five minutes of the half McGarry pointed two frees to level the game at half time on a 0-07 to 1-04 scoreline.

Aldergrove started the second half pretty much how they started the first with a goal from Seamus McGarry in the first minute. Eamon Fyfe reduced the deficit to two with a point but up stepped McGarry again with two frees to put four between them ten minutes into the second half. Aodhan O’Donnell cut the away team’s lead to two point with a brace of points but once again McGarry pointed to leave a goal between the teams. That was on fifteen minute mark and heralded the water break. Not sure what words of wisdom were shared at the water break between the teams but Aldergrove would not score again until the very last kick of the game when Referree Vincent Boyle  awarded them a free. Before that however, Eamon Fyfe, Aodhan O’Donnell and substitute Senan Black brought the Glensmen back level and when Conleth O’Loan scored under pressure from Aldregrove’s defence it looked like Con Magees might grab a late victory.

James Trowlen had other ideas though and when asked to take the late free he showed coolness to slot it over – obviously aware of the consequences of missing.
This was a really enjoyable game with very few incidents for Vincent Boyle to adjudicate on. Both teams gave it everything and on balance neither could complain about it ending in a draw.
