Mighty Midge sinks Moneyglass

Senior Reserve Football Shield

Group 1

All Saints 4-17 Moneyglass 1-11

Diarmuid ‘Midge’ McNally continued his fine vein of scoring form as he scored 2-6 to fire his side to a good victory over visitors, Moneyglass in last night’s Reserve Shield at Quinn Park. The mercurial McNally continued where he had left off a week ago against Glenravel and on this form he is a great asset to his side.

It was visitors Moneyglass who were first to threaten however as they fired over the opening three points before the Ballymena defence settled down and they hit back with a couple of points from McNally and another from Peter McCann.

It was nip and tuck during the opening quarter with the home side edging one ahead by the first water break to lead 0-6 to 0-5. At this stage the All Saints management made a couple of changes which were to prove decisive.

Luke O’Rawe was introduced for younger brother Conor while Declan Hasson returned to the All Saints side for the first time in over two decades, replacing Padraic Magill.

The visitors fielded with quite an experienced lineout with Benny McKeefrey and Liam Brady prominent but it was the youthful legs in the home side that began to tell as the second quarter progressed.

By half time the Ballymena side had taken control with Declan Hasson making quite an impression on his return and ‘Midge’ McNally continuing to pick off his scores.

After the break All Saints began to take control, moving the ball around with great confidence as the scores came thick and fast but the visitors continued to battle and a late goal from Benny McKeefrey and two excellent points from Liam Brady gave them some hope.

The home side were able to find a response however and Sean McCambridge replied with a goal of his own and when Declan Hasson marked his return with All Saints fourth goal of the game it was well and truly over.
