Emphatic win for St Paul’s in U16 hurling

Cushendall 0-9 St Paul’s 4-15

St Paul’s completed their games in the Under 16 Hurling Championship when they travelled to Cushendall on Saturday and beat the Ruairi Og by 18 points.

Points from Lorcan Phillips (2), Thomas Duff, Sean Munce and Paul Donnelly had St Paul’s five ahead efore Padraig McKillop opened the scoring for the home team. Josh Schnell added another for Cushendall on 14 minutes to leave just three between the teams between the teams but a Paul Donnelly goal, plus points from Donnelly and Lorcan Phillips gave the visitors control. Cushendall had a good spell when Padraig McKillop hit three points and Josh Schnell one, but St Paul’s finished the half strongly with two Paul Donnelly points and a goal from Lorcan Phillips to lead 2-9 to 0-6 at the interval.

The second half was one way traffic as St Paul’s continued to dominate with Ruairi O’Duffin, Paul Donnelly, Coimhin Duffy and Thomas Duff adding points. Padraig McKillop interrupted the flow with pointed free for Cushendall but St Paul’s hit back with another barrage of scores, including a Shea Burns goal to seal an emphatic win.
