McMullan Cup – N. Antrim Under 16 Hurling Championship
Oisins 4-10 Loughgiel 0-9
Goals made the difference when Glenariffe Oisins beat Loughgiel Shamrocks in Sunday’s McMullan Cup quarter final in Waterfoot. Two in each half were the scores that really made the difference for the Oisins, Niall McGarrel and Orrin O’Connor getting the two before the break, while O’Connor and Rodgers notched the two after the break.
Loughgiel opened the game with a point from Ronan McCollum but Glenariffe came back with three on the trot from Nial McGarrell (2) and Daniel Kearney. Loughgiel then had their best spell of the game as Ronan McCollum, Ben McGarry (2) and Conor Dickson all added points but two goals inside three minutes McGarel and O’Conor saw the Oisins on top at half time by 2-4 to 0-6
Jack McCloskey got one back for Loughgiel early in the second half but the game was well and truly decided wen Orin O’Connor and Ronan Rodger got two goals inside three minutes. McGarrell and Odhran Gillan also added points and though Loughgiel ended strongly with points from Ronan Casey and Ben McCarry it was too late to have any bearing on the result.
