Naomh Eanna are Minor B Hulring champions

Antrim Minor B Hurling final

Naomh Eanna 2-19 Con Magees 0-13

Naomh Eanna won the Minor B hurling title at Slemish Park, Ballymena on Saturday when they beat Glenravel Con Magees in the final. Naomh Eanna dominated the opening half when backed by a stiff breeze and led by 2-13 to 0-4 at half time and while Con Magees did much better in the second half Naomh Eanna were always in control.

For the most part this was a good hard fought game but it would be remiss of us not mention an unsightly melee which broke out in the final minute which saw five players receive red cards, three from Glenravel and two from Naomh Eanna.

Glenravel got the opening point of the game but that was to be their only score between then and the first half water break as Naomh Eanna too complete control, scoring 2-5 without reply. Points from Oscar Smyth (2), Michael Deveney, and Luke O’Connor were followed by a goal from centre forwards Ronan Eager. Luke O’Connor added a point before Eager got his team’s second goal to make it 2-5 to 0-1 at the water-break

Luke O’Connor then hit five points on the trot which helped his team to a convincing 2-13 to 0-4 half time lead.

With the breeze behind them in the second half Glenravel fared much better and points from Jude Scullion, Ryan McQuillan and Cormac McKeown (2) closed the gap a little. However Naomh Eanna were never threatened as O’Connor, Murray and Eagar all found replies. Glenravel found the target more regularly in the last ten minutes, but Naomh Eanna were always in control and claimed the title in impressive fashion.
