On Saturday evening Lámh Dhearg recognised the contribution of their juvenile members over the past surreal year showing great resilience and endeavour with a Virtual presentation evening.
Usually one of the biggest events in the club’s calendar, following the success of the awards evening a few weeks ago- it was decided the juvenile presentation would also go ahead virtually.
Players and their families were able to login on-line and were treated to a fine selection of music from Seamy McPeake and his daughters- Katie and Lucy.
Paul Buchanan was compere for the evening and coordinated a very well organised night while Aisling McConville produced two fantastic PowerPoint presentations – the first of the juvenile teams preparing for the 2020 season pre-covid and the second of the teams when they were finally able to return to action from June onwards.
Guests for the evening included club senior ladies’ footballer and Antrim star Niamh Webb, senior player and Antrim football captain Declan Lynch, fellow Lámh Dhearg and Antrim team-mate Paddy Cunningham, Creggan and Antrim hurling captain Conor McCann and 9-time All-Star, 5-time All-Ireland winner DJ Carey. All of the guests offered great advice to the juveniles and spoke of their personal experience of lockdown.
Club chairman Peter Kane addressed all of the guests at the end of the evening and spoke of his desire to see everybody back at the club as soon as it is safe to do so.
Peter then went to on announce that Paul Buchanan had come up with the best name for the Coaching Committee’s training game – ‘Follow the Red Hand Road’. Bukey kindly decided not to accept the prize of the official board game and in the ballot that took place for entrants of the competition Aoife Craig was the recipient of the board game.
The night generated very positive feedback on Social Media as reflected by a sample of comments .
