Con Magees GAC virtual table quiz is open to all

Con Magees Glenravel are holding a virtual table quiz on Saturday, March 27th – and they expect to attract entries from all over the world.

Con Magees GAC, Glenravel, are looking forward to hosting their first ever online quiz but they are quick to point out that it is a ‘quiz for all’.

“It is exactly the same as an ordinary table quiz, except that it’s online. Families can form their own teams in their own homes, or people can virtually team up together even though they are in different locations. In fact, we already have a few teams formed from people in different countries, including former players with the club,” said Seamus McMullan, Con Magees GAC.

Entry fee will be just £25 per table and the club have teamed up with online venue The Horan Stand to run the quiz.

“Even though we are a GAA club, the quiz is open to anyone with an interest in Irish life. And there will be no sneaky, local questions,” added Seamus.

“The Horan Stand hosts a virtual table quiz every Saturday night and it has built up a loyal following of players who have already registered teams for the Glenravel event.  It promises to be a fun night for everyone.

The project was started by Liam Horan, Ballinrobe, Co Mayo.  Alongside his business interests, Liam is currently a Lecturer in Sports and News Journalism at NUI Galway.  He was the creator of RTE Radio’s ‘Championship Man’ series that ran during the summer months between 2007 and 2011.  Liam was also previously the senior Gaelic Games correspondent with the Irish Independent newspaper.  While he has a strong background in Gaelic Games, his quizes are very much general knowledge based and he provides a very entertaining evening in between the questions, as compere.  Liam is familiar with the Glens of Antrim, and indeed is looking forward to having the opportunity to travel back up here again when circumstances permit.
