Carson goal proves decisive as Sarsfields beat Gorts

Sarsfields had two points to spare over West Belfast neighbours Gort na Móna when the two sides met on Wednesday evening at Pairc Enright in Division 2 of the Antrim Hurling League.

Just like Sunday’s darwn game with Cloney Gaels this was a hard fought encounter with Kevin and Daniel McKernan leading the scoring for the Paddies, Daniel ending with seven points and Kevin with six. However the decisive score of the game came just before half time from Paul Carson who rifled a beauty of a goal into the top corner of the Gorts net to give the Paddies a 1-11 to 1-10 lead at the break.

The second half was just as tough as the first with both teams matching each other score for score, but Sarsfields held on to take the win against a very good Gorts team

Sarsfields scorer – Kevin McKernan 0-6 (4 frees), Daniel McKerna 0-7 (4 frees), Donal McKernan 0-3, Paul Carson 1-0, Caolan McKernan 0-2, Daffy Ward 0-1, Aidso Mulholland 0-1, Deaglan Coleman 0-1, Gary Jemfrey 0-1.
