Cushendall come strong in second half

Cushendall   4-5 Ballycastle 1-4

Cushendall got their league campaign off to a good start when they beat Ballycastle in Tuesday’s evening’s fixture in Cushenun.

With the breeze at their backs Ballycastle started well and were three ahead after 12 minutes, the scores coming from goalkeeper Shannagh Heggarty, from a 45, Aoibheann Donnelly and Riona McAuley.

Cushenall didn’t score until the 23rd minute when Orlaith McAlister got their first point from a 45 and that was followed by one from play from Orlaith McAuley soon afterwards to leave them trailing by a single point at half time.

Right from the start of the second half Cushendall were well on top and three goals inside four minutes from Kady McNeill, Orlaith McCurry and Niamh McNeill had them in control Orlaith McAlister added two points from frees and though Ballycastle came back with points from McAuley and Donnelly Cushenall grabbed a goal and a point before the final whistle to win in the end by 10
