Kevin Lee Traynor RIP

We at the Saffron Gael would like to offer our sincere condolences to the Traynor family on the death of Kevin Lee

Kevin Lee Traynor was a highly talented hurler who won honours with his club Loughgiel Shamrocks and with his school Cross & Passion College. Back in 2006 he gave an incredible display at full-forward for CPC when they beat St Mary’s CBGS in the Gallagher Cup final at Ballymaguigan, winning the man of the match award, while later that year he was part of the school team who beat a hotly fancied St Pat’s Maghera team in the Mageean Cup final at Corrigan Park to give the ‘Convent’ their fifth title.

Two years later he tasted success with his club Loughgiel, winning the Darragh Cup when they beat Cushendall in the final in Dunloy and later in the season he collected a coveted Minor Hurling Championship medal when the Shamrocks beat Gort na Móna at Casement Park.

Lee didn’t continue with his hurling career into adulthood, which is a pity because he had the ability to make it at any level.

To his mum Mary Grace, dad Jimmy, brothers Francis, Shea, Paul, John, Vincent and Eamon, and daughter Sophia Lee we extend our deepest sympathy.
