Loughgiel power home

Loughgiel 2nds 1-20 Brídíní Óga 1-4

Loughgiel were the sharper and more determined team in this Division Two game that was switched from Glenravel to Loughgiel.

Right from the start the Shamrocks took the game to Brídíní Óga and Kirsty McKendry converted a 45 in the first minute. Ciara Dobbin added a second point before Aimee Traynor pulled one back for the visitors.

But Loughgiel, with Katie Lynn and Meadhbh McCormick dominant at the back, moved on to six points before Torie Edgar and Eimhear McAleenan from a free pulled points back for the Glenravel girls. But Loughgiel finished the half strongly with a late point from Kirsty McKendry to leave it 0-7 to 0-3 at the break.

With the wind behind them in the second half and Orlagh Laverty now driving forward at every opportunity the points flowed from Loughgiel forwards and they and they had reached 0-13 before a good move from Brídíní Óga saw Ahsling Millar played through for a goal.

But it was only a brief flash from the visitors and Orlagh Laverty (2), Annie Lynn (2) and Caoimhe McMullan all kept the score-board ticking with points while a late goal from Cara Connolly sealed a comprehensive win that keeps Loughgiel top of the table with two more games to go before the league splits.
