McNeill hat-trick secures Rasharkin win

ACFL Division 3

 St Agnes 0-13 Rasharkin 3-08

Rasharkin secured their position in the league semi-finals with a hard-fought win over a solid St Agnes’s side at Woodlands.

A hat trick of goals from full forward Eamonn McNeill, who returned to the side following an injury layoff, was the difference between the teams.

St Agnes started brightly with the first score of the evening but Rasharkin quickly replied through Andrew Hasson before McNeill fired to the net for his first of the evening.  The sides then exchanged points to leave the score 1-3 to 0-4 at the first water break.

St Agnes’ were causing lots of problems and reeled off the next 3 points to take the lead before McNeill sparked into life by hitting 1-2 inside a couple of minutes.  Rasharkin further stretched their lead with points from Shane Hasson and McNeill again before St Agnes’ hit back with the last 2 points of the half.

Half time score St Agnes 0-09 Rasharkin 2-07.

Rasharkin started the second half well with an Andrew Hasson free before McNeill hit the net again for his third goal of the night to open up an unassailable 8 point lead.

St Agnes’ did fight back and hit the final 4 points of the game but it was Rasharkin who took the points.
