Antrim Football League Division 2
Con Magees 2-6 Ardoyne 1-7
A goal in the third minute of injury time by Conor McNeill gave Con Magees Glenravel victory over Ardoyne in Wednesday evening’s Division 2 League game at Fr Maginn Park, Glenravel.
When Cormac Mullan pointed a 45 in the first minute of injury time it looked Ardoyne were going home with both the points, but the home team mounted one last attack and McNeill finished the ball to the net to ‘steal’ the win.
Con Magees went a point ahead in the seventh minute when Johnny Fyfe fired over and when Clonteth O’Loan grabbed a goal a minute later the home side appeared to be in a strong position. However Ardoyne hit back within a minute when right half forward Brendan O’Neill took the ball around Glenravel goalkeeper Shaun O’Boyle and steered it home from a narrow angle.
David Higgins brought the home team level soon after half time and during an uneventful second half the teams were level again on three different occasions. When Ardoyne cut through on goal in the final minute Brendan O’Neill looked certain to score his second goal of the game, only to be denied by a last gasp tackle by Eoin McCusker who flicked the ball of his toe and sent it out for a 45.
When Mullan sent the resultant 45 between the Glenravel posts it looked like the Kickhmas men were heading home with the league points, until they were denied by Conor McNeill late goal.
