Mayo’s Sean Regan has a few Antrim connections

And the links to the weekend hurling finals keep on coming as Niall Patterson, keeper of the goals in ’83 for Loughgiel and ’89 for Antrim, pointed out to me earlier today. His nephew Sean Regan scored 1-3 for Mayo in their win over Tyrone, son of Anne Patterson from Cloughmills and Johnny Regan from Tully, Cushendall. Namesake and grandson of Irelands Bargain King himself Sean Regan, a man who could (and probably did) sell snow to the Eskimos.

A great lad who played originally in defence, just like the man in the other corner yesterday Keith Higgins of big ball fame. Both adjusted well to the move up front. Cushendall, Cloughmills and his native Toreen can be proud.
