Saints keep unbeaten run in tact

ACHL U17 Division 2

Rossa 1-5 All Saints 1-15

All Saints kept their unbeaten league run going with a hard fought win at Rossa Park today. The young Saints have been out of action for a few weeks and their shooting today showed there was a touch of rustiness in their game.

Goal chances went a begging in both halves but it’s great to have things to work on. The game started with a flurry of wides from both teams as they struggled to find the target. Rossa eventually raised the first flag but with Saints midfield of Dara Martin and Aodhan McGarry starting to find their feet and more importantly the target Saints led 0-8 to 0-2 at half time with Aodhan McGarry 0-4 Joseph O’Rawe 0-3 and TP McGurk 0-1.

U15 starlets Connor O’Hara and Pearse Martin came in for the second half and gave fresh impetus to the Saints forwards. Points from Dara Martin, Aodhan McGarry, Matthew Mullen and Pearse Martin stretched their lead before Rossa pulled a point then a goal back. A superb solo and pass from Fintan Brady allowed Aodhan McGarry to find the net halting any hopes of a Rossa comeback.

That’s 4 from 4 in the league for the Ballymena boys with big games to come in the next few weeks it’s important for the team to stick together and build the momentum again.
