St Paul’s 2-7 Sarsfields 3-8
Sarsfields made a great start to their Intermediate Football Championship campaign when they made the short journey up to neighbours St Paul’s and came away winners by four points after a hard fought contest.
An early point from midfielder Cormac Murray put Sarsfields ahead but St Paul’s were soon level when they came back with a point two minutes later. The Paddies chances were boosted on six minutes when right half back Ethan Mervyn got in for the first goal of the game, and though St Pauls came back with a point in the 9th minute, full forward Niall McAlea and centre forward Gary Lennon came back with points for Sarsfields to put their team four points clear.
Things looked really good for the Paddies when Miceal Ferris got his team’s second goal on 21 minutes, but St Paul’s came back with a goal and a point of their own to trail by just a goal at half time.

Sarsfields made a great start to the second half with points from Niall McKenna and Gary Lennon, and when Lennon followed with a goal on 36 minutes they were eight clear. However St Paul’s came back with a goal of their own and it was game on once again. However Sarfields maintained the upper hand and they went on to win by four to get their campaign off to the perfect start.
