Rasharkin secure top spot

Rasharkin 2-14 Eire Og 0-11.

Rasharkin secured top spot in group 2 of the junior championship with a 9 point win over Eire Og at Woodlands on Sunday.

The Dreen men led from the start but despite controlling possession found it difficult to break down a well organised defensive Eire Og unit in the first half.

Frees from the boot of Andrew and Shane Hasson were the difference in the first half as Rasharkin finished the half with a 2 point advantage, 0-07 to 0-05.

The game was won in the 3rd quarter as Rasharkin opened up Eire Og for 2 well taken goals, first from the boot of full forward Eamonn McNeill, then quickly followed by another from Liam Quigg.  Eire Og didn’t lie down and were competitive throughout but Rasharkin were able to keep the scoreboard ticking over and ran out 9 point winners in the end.

Rasharkin are away to Ballycastle in their final group game in 2 week’s-time while Eire Og face St Malachys.
