Dominant Dunloy seal minor final win

Dunloy: 6-15(33)  Ballycastle: 2-4(10)

Dunloy clinched another Minor Camogie title at Cushendun on Sunday where they scored a big win over Ballycastle.

Totally on top during a one sided first half the Cuchullains girls were 2-8 to 0-1 ahead at the half time. Ballycastle fared a little better on the scoreboard during the second half but Dunloy always had a reply and ran out winning in the end by 23 points.

Dunloy were quick from the traps and inside the first ten minutes they had the game all but wrapped up as cousins Aine Magill and Cassie McArthur grabbed a goal each with Magill, Katie Molly and Caitlin Crawford all added points. Riana McBride pulled a point back for Ballycastle, but it was to be her side’s only score of the half and four unanswered points had them 2-8 to 0-1 at the interval.

After the change of ends Dunloy carried on where they left off and two quick goals from Aine Magill and Cassie McArthur helped them stretch their lead to 21, before Ballycastle got their first goal through Riana McBride. A further goal and a point from Aoibhean Donnely helped Ballycastle close the gap but it was to be brief respite as Cassie McArthur came back with a goal and two points.

Ballycastle came back with points from Janie McIntosh and Riana McBride but McArthur grabbed her team’s sixth goal and Kyra Doherty wrapped it all up with a point.
