2020 Ulster Senior Club Camogie Final
Slaughtneil 1-12 Loughgiel 0-8
Slaughtneil won their fifth straight Ulster Club Camogie title when they beat Antrim champions Loughgiel 1-12 to 0-8 in the replay of the 2020 final at Glen, Maghera
The two side couldn’t be separated in last week’s drawn game in Ballymena but this time around Slaughtneil held the upper hand from the start in what was dreadful condition, with heavy showers seeing an already quagmire pitch get worse as the game progressed.
Not that the conditions had any effect on the Derry champions for they adapted to them and were always in control and a well taken goal from Tina Bradley helped them to a 1-3 to 0-4 lead at half time, despite having faced the strong breeze in the first half.
Loughgiel had two early attacks in the second half and they pulled a point back. However Slaughtneil were able to respond and were soon back in the driving seat. Roisin McCormick and Christine Lavery were keeping Loughgiel in touch with battling performances but Slaughtneil were strong right through the lines and pushed on to win by seven points in the end.
Although well beaten in the end it has to be said Loughgiel gave everything they had throughout the game. They will take a bit of time to reflect on Saturday’s defeat before going again for yet another clash with their great rival in the 2021 final in a few weeks’ time.
As for Slaughtneil they are back in action next weekend again when they take on Wexford champions Oulart the Ballagh in the 2021 All-Ireland semi-final
