St. Comgall’s began their league campaign with a ruthless victory, as they proved too much for a spirited St. Malachy’s side at Dunsilly on Sunday afternoon. James McCabe got proceedings underway with a superbly kicked score that added to his personal tally of 2-2 over the course of the hour.
The visiting side were not giving up without a fight, and continued to make life difficult for the men in white and green with plenty of possession and kicking a few fantastic scores in the opening half. A few key scores from Paddy Quinn, as well as some outstanding direct running from Paddy O’Connor saw the home side take a commanding lead at half time.
The second half offered more great attacking play as St. Comgall’s continued to dominate around the middle of the park, as well as putting their astute defending on show for the Dunsilly spectators. Some notably strong performances from Lewis Higgins dictating affairs at full forward, as well as some classy scores from veteran Oisin Crilly.

The final quarter of the encounter saw the away side having a bit of success, scoring one of their two goals, but it was not enough to stop the St. Comgall’s side who will have Division 3 promotion firmly on their radar as they ran out comfortable winners.
