Sarsfields 0-7 Moneyglass 0-10
St. Ergnat’s Moneyglass collected another useful brace of points when they travelled to the Bear Pit on Sunday and came away with a three point win over Sarsfield’s. The visitors led by two at the break and pushed on for their second win of the season in the second half despite the best efforts of the home side.
Dermot McErlain got St. Ergnat’s off to a great start with a point in the opening minute and Colm Duffin added another as the visitors controlled the opening exchanges.

Eamonm Quinn finally got Sarsfield’s off the mark as he split the posts but Duffin replied for the visitors to restore their two point advantage. It was end to end stuff at this stage of the contest with Gary ‘Fran’ Lennon responding with a point for Sarsfields to leave just one in it again by the 19th minute but the Marian Hill men started to take control in the period leading up to half time.
They hit the following three points of the half through Conal Prenter and two from the excellent Colm Duffin with Gary Lennon replying for the home side late in the half to leave it 0-6 to 0-4 in favour of the visitors as the half time whistle sounded.
Lennon started the second half with a point for the ‘Paddies’ in the opening minute to close the gap to the minimum but Seanchann Duffin replied in the third minute to restore the visitors two point advantage.

Both defences were dominating at this stage of the game and it was another nine minutes before the next flag was raised when Brian Healy split the posts to leave just one between the sides again by the 41st minute and the men from the Bear Pit must have fancied their chances at this stage.
Their hopes received another boost as gary Lennon fired over to level the contest going into the final quarter but St. Ergnat’s dug deep at this stage and showed great resolve to dominate the closing stages. Seanchann Duffin, Ferghal Duffin and Seanchann Duffin again were all on target for the visitors with Sarsfields unable to find a response.
Moneyglass now sit joint top of the table with St. James Aldergrove, both clubs with 4 points from 2 starts and while its early days the St. Ergnat’s men look a good bet to be in contention come the end of the season.
