All Saints advance to Ulster final

Ulster club Intermediate club football semi-final

All Saints (Antrim) 1-8 Buncrana (Donegal) 1-7

All Saints, Ballymena have suffered defeat in their opening two ACFL Division 2 games but have performed reasonably well despite being short quite a number of players through county duty and injury.

New manager, Baker Bradly has used the Ulster Intermediate club league to blood a number of fringe players and the Ballymena men have performed admirably in the competition and on Sunday they defeated Buncrana of Donegal in the semi-final.

The Ballymena men enjoyed home advantage for this one but were pushed all the way by a determined Buncrana side who proved difficult to break down during the opening half and looked to be heading for the final when they led 1-4 to 0-2.

After the break the All Saints side started to spread the play, using the breadth of the pitch to good effect.

They began to get their inside men more on the ball with Connell Lemon opening up the visitors defence with his pace and his goal proved to be the turning point in the game, Lemon finishing the game as top scorer with 1-2. Oisin Connolly was another who found his range and added 0-3 while Shea O’Brien, Eoin Campbell and Ciaran Campbell were all on target as All Saints edged home by the minimum to reach the final.

All Saints will face Aghyaran St. Davog’s in ther final after the Tyrone side recorded a 2-7 to 0-12 semi-final win over Corduff in the other semi-final. The final is to be played at a Co Derry venue this coming weekend.
