Homefit ACFL Division 1
Aghagallon 0-6 Creggan 2-11
Creggan travelled to Aghagallon on Wednesday night in the ACFL Division 1 and once again proved too good for a St. Mary’s side who they had defeated in the 2021 SFC final at Corrigan Park back in September.
The visitors made a bright start and Paddy Coey pointed them ahead from a free from out on the left and the same player was on target again, this time from the right of goals and when Kealan McCann got on the end of a flowing move to fire over from play they were 0-3 ahead.

The home side had been under the early cosh but they threatened to get back into it when Jonathan Hannon pointed a couple of frees to close the gap to the minimum after 20 minutes but they were finding it almost impossible to break through a strong and well organised Kickham’s defence.
Back came Creggan and Joe McAteer fired over an excellent point and then Ethan Carey Small got forward from his defensive berth to add another as the Kickhams continued to move the ball about with confidence.
Sean Duffin got his name on the score card as the visitors continued to call the shots and by half time they looked in a fairly comfortable position when they led by 0-8 to 0-3 and they were good value for that lead.
Things didn’t get any better for Aghagallon on the restart as Matthew Rodgers got through for the gams opening goal, a couple of minutes into the new half and a couple of pointed frees from Paddy Coey and keeper, Oisin Kerr had them in the comfort zone going down the home straight.

St. Mary’s were only able to add three second half points through Shane Russell and Jonathan Hannon to add to their first half tally and when Sean Duffin fired home the visitors second goal from the penalty spot it was all over. The Kickham’s went on to add a further three points through Paddy Coey, Joe McAteer and Dermott McCann to complete a thoroughly efficient performance.
This win moves Creggan joint top of the table with 8 points from five start with Portglenone joining them on 8 but the Casement’s have played a game less. Aghagallon sit on four from four starts and are comfortably placed but will know that they wil;l have to improve on last night’s performance if they are to ber challengers for silverware this season.
