Sporting heritage 2022 is the Centenary of St Marys GAC winning a County Championship.
In 1922 a team from Larne won the Antrim Junior Gaelic football Championship. The St Marys Club faded out of existence long before Latharna Og were formed in 1965. This year Latharna Og are celebrating the Centenary of the greatest achievement of St Marys GAC. A replica tribute jersey in the colours of the 1922 champions will be revealed in an event at the Larne Museum and Arts Centre on Friday 8th April at 7pm.
This will be a chance to weave a bit of colour into a long forgotten piece of the towns rich sporting tapestry. Also this piece of sporting heritage will be brought to life with our living history event. The home of Latharna Og at Ballytober on the Brustin Braes will be the setting for a Gaelic Football exabition match between Latharna Og and a St Marys select team on Saturday 16th July, throw in is at 6pm
