Carey Faughs 0-11  McQuillan’s Ballycastle 4-21

Ballycastle’s full forward Diarmuid McShane with a personal tally of 3-11 played the lead role in what turned out to be a scoring onslaught against their understrength neighbours Carey.

McShane opened the scoring in the first minute with a pointed free, with Carey’s Conor McBride returning the favour seconds later also from the dead ball.

The Town however were to show no mercy adding a further 1-7 (McShane 1-3, Ciaran Butler 0-1 L Donnelly 0-2 Tiarnan Smyth 0-1) , McShane netting a penalty before Michael McVeigh with a long range effort in the 18^th minute produced a second point for the Carey men.

For Carey , Conor McBride would add two further points in the 22^nd and 23^rd minute and Patrick McBride a point in the 28^th minute, but by this time 3 McShane points and a wonder point from Ciaran ‘Butsy’ Butler had steered the Castle to a 10 point interval lead.

There was no respite for the home side in the second half, McShane netting the first of his two second half goals in the first minute, four further McShane points, as well as scores from Butsy, Cathal Connor preceded a clever Tiarnan Smyth goal and point with substitutes Jack McGowan and Ryan McCook adding points to complete a final tally of 4-21.

For the Faughs two from Conor McBride, and two from substitute Conleth McKinley sandwiched points from Fiachra McVeigh and Patrick Gillan for a final tally of 0-11.
