Antrim Hurling League Division 2
St Gall’s 1-16 Tir na nÓg 2-12
St Gall’s edged out visitors St Gall’s in Sunday’s Antrim Hurling League Division 2 game at Milltown after a closely fought contest. The hurling at time may not have been of the highest standard at time, especially some of the defending, but it was always entertaining and in the end the home team just about deserved their win.
During the first quarter Tir na nÓg appeared to be getting the upper hand as points from Ciaran Logan, Sean Duffin (2) and Caoimhin Duffin had them 0-5 to 0-2 ahead on 14 minutes, the St Gall’s scores coming from Gregory McGreevey.
The momentum then swung in St Gall’s favour as Dubhaltach McLiam and Tomas O’Ciaran picked off the points and they appeared to be back on top until a well worked goal by Tir na nÓg’s Sean Duffin gave them a one point lead at the half time.

Tomas O’Ciaran brought St Gall’s level early in the second half and then edged them ahead from a free and when Tir na nÓg loast a man to a second yellow card the home team seemed to be in a strong position. When substitute Niall Fallon got in for a St Gall’s goal on 43 minutes they appeared to have a bit of breathing space, but a bad mistake by the home team’s goalkeeper saw a Caoimhin Duffin long range free drop into the net.
The Randalstown men went ahead but St Gall’s showed great resilience the finished with points from Patrick Friel, Niall Fallon, and Tomas O’Ciaran to get over the line by a single points.
