ACFL Division 2
Creggan 1-20 Oisins 2-17
Creggan were 7 behind in the early stages of the first half but pulled back to lead throughout the second only to be caught at the final hurdle of injury time when Alex O’Boyle drove a 15 metre free low that was stopped on the line by the Creggan defence. In the ensuing ruck, SeamusMcDonnell got on the end of a breaking ball, blasting it into the net, to leave it level.
A confident Oisin’s Glenariff dominated the first 10 minutes at Creggan as the home side struggled to gain possession. Seanie McIntosh got the visitors up and running 3 minutes in and with 5 gone Alex O’Boyle got his first point.
Two further points from Michael O’Boyle followed by an Alex O’Boyle’s 65 put the visitors 4 points up with Creggan’s only response after 4 minutes was a point from Oran McCann. Oliver Kearney and Michael Gettens both got their name on the score sheet as Alex O’Boyle converted another 65 and a 20 metre free to leave the visitors 7 ahead.

The home side’s Oran McCann added another point and at this stage the home support must have been fearing for the worse but in the 13th minute Creggan’s Kevin Rice broke through Oisin’s defence and delivered the ball low into the net.
Now trailing by four points Creggan got a bit of inspiration and upped their game considerably going into the break, scoring 6 additional points through Oran McCann, Sean Duffin, Kevin Rice (2), Michael Maguire and Morgan Nelson. O’Boyle increased his tally from 2 further frees while his team mate, Paul McDonnell, took the visitor’s tally to 12 points with 30 gone to leave just one in it at the break
With the second half underway, Oran McCann levelled for the home side with a point from play but the visitor’s response was swift and decisive with Seamus McDonell firing low past the Creggan keeper.
This would be the last time that Oisin’s would lead as Creggan came back strongly. With 50 minutes of the second half gone Creggan had moved three ahead with 2 additional points from Duffin, one from McCann, Niall McAuley and Liam McCann.
The visitors’ were now playing catch up and Michael Gettens got a second point to leave 2 in it while Alex O’Boyle converted another free, his 7th point of the game but the visitors’ frustration grew as their wide tally increased.

At the other end Oran McCann converted three frees in a period of 6 minutes before substitute, Shane O’Connor, got his first of 2 scores in the 55th minute to leave them trailing by 2 points.
Creggan moved three ahead again when Liam McCann pointed from play while Oisin’s O’Boyle converted another free and Michael O’Boyle scored to leave just one it once more.
Oran McCann converted two more frees for the Staffordstown Road side as we approached injury time and Creggan appeared to have a comfortable lead but in the dying seconds of the game Oisin’s were awarded a close range free.
Alex O’Boyle stepped up with only one thought on his mind. His low drive was stopped on the line by Creggan’s defence and as the ball bounced, Seamus McDonell pulled on it deflecting off Creggan’s Jake McAteer’s hurl and into the back of the net to level the contest with the full time whistle sounded from the resulting puck out.
