St Patrick’s Lisburn 1-8 St Comgall’s 0-6

St Patrick’s Lisburn moved three points clear at the top of Division 3 when they beat St Comgall’s in Sunday’s top of the table clash in Lisburn, a result that sees them take a strong grip of the division after the first round of the top six.

In a close and highly competitive opening half Miles Devin gave St Comgall’s and early lead, but the home team came back with a point from Sean Burns to things up. St Comgall’s were denied what looked to be a certain goal when St Patrick’s netminder Ruadhan McKenna made a brilliant point blank save, but they did move back ahead against when right half forward James McCabe fired over. Three points without reply from Eoin Dixon (2) and Mark Torbitt put St Patrick ahead nearing half time, but a Patrick O’Connor point for the visitors cut the deficit to a single points at the interval. (0-4 to 0-3)

The home team made a great start to the second half when Eoin Dixon pointed from a free to increase the lead to 2 points, and when Oisin Gorman added a goal they were in charge of the game. Eoin Dixon added another to puts six between the sides, and though St Comgall’s responded with points from Devine and O’Connor, Josh McMullan and Eoin Dixon secured the victory for the new league leaders with two late points
