Moneyglass U15 girls, Antrim County A Feile winners with no defeats on their record, headed off on Saturday to represent Antrim County in the Feile Peile na nÓg National Finals in Abbotstown, Dublin . St. Ergnat’s retained their unbeaten record as they sweep the board in Dublin. The final was to be the County Antrim girl’s toughest match of the day. The girls battled hard against Geraldine’s Co Louth and come away with the cup after a 2 point win.
The Moneyglass girls finished top of their group after 3 wins from 3 games and were set to meet a strong Na Deise side from Waterford in the semi-finals.
After a slow start and going down 3 points to zero, Moneyglass found their way and got on the scoreboard, hitting an unanswered 3-3 to make sure they had a place in the final.
Up next in the final was Geraldine’s from Louth who had just beaten Boston in their semi -final.

Within the first minute, Moneyglass missed a goal chance which Geraldine’s capitalised on with a few scores at the other end. The first half was end to end football with both teams working hard for every score.
Down by 2 points at half time, it was going to be an uphill battle but after a few words from their manager, Antrim LGFA captain Cathy Carey, the girls remained composed and went ahead with 5minutes to go and never looked back.
Overall a massive panel performance from the start, to the end of the day, at the excellent pitches at Abbotstown. The Moneyglass work-rate and teamwork shone throughout the day, with leaders all over the pitch.
