Kelly goal turns it St. Gall’s way

U17A Minor Football quarter-final

All Saints 0-6 St. Gall’s 1-6

A Seamie Kelly goal just before half time turned this U17A football championship game at Quinn Park in favour of St. Gall’s who went on to produce a strong second half performance to beat All Saints at Quinn park on Sunday.

The home side edged the opening half exchanges and Archie McGreevey 0-2, Darragh Bradley and Calon O’Neill put them in a strong position when they led 0-4 to 0-1 as half time approached. The St. Gall’s point came from Liam Lynn before Kelly struck with the only goal of the match to leave it all square at the break.

Dubhaltach Crawford edged St. Gall’s ahead for the first time on the restart but points from Aodhan McGarry and Lewis Devlin restored the All Saints lead by the 9th minute and they appeared to be gaining the upper hand.

It was to prove All Saints final score though they had several opportunities to add to their total but reluctance to shoot coupled by some sterling defending by the visitors defence kept them scoreless for the remainder of the game.

St. Gall’s finished strongly with points from Ethan Walsh, Manus McCrossan (f), Padraig Murray and McCrossan from play and now move forward to the semi-finals where they will be joined by Glenravel, who had a good win over Moneyglass, Cargin who defeated St. Paul’s and St. Brigid’s who had five points to spare over Aghagallon
