Aldergrove off to a good start over local rivals Glenavy

U17B Football Championship

This year’s U17B Football Championship looks a difficult one to call with each of the weekend’s quarter-finals producing convincing wins for St. James Aldergrove, Corpus Christi Gaels, Kickham’s Creggan and Naomh Eanna.

St. James recorded a fine 1-15 to 0-7 win over neighbours, St. Joseph’s Glenavy in Crumlin and had just too much firepower for a St. Joseph’s side that never the less gave it everything.

Perhaps the most impressive win in the round fell to Corpus Christi Gaels however with the amalgamated side travelling down to Dunloy where victory is never easy but the Belfast side came away with a 4-10 to 0-8 win.

The South West meeting of Kickham’s Creggan and Portglenone saw the home side record a fairly convincing win of 3-13 to 0-11 while up at Hannastown visitors, St. Enda’s had two points to spare over their hosts, Lamh Dhearg
