Danske Bank Mageean Cup quarter-final
St Killian’s Garron Tower 7-25 Our Lady’s & St Patrick’s Knock 0-5
St Killian’s cruised to a facile win over Our Lady’s & St Patrick’s Knock in Wednesday’s Mageean Cup quarter final at Quinn Park, Ballymena.
The opening quarter saw the Tower move 1-6 to 0-1 ahead despite shooting some really bad wides, and though Knock created a couple of good chances themselves they were denied by John V Morgan in the St Killian’s goals who made two good stops.

The opening goal of the game came from Brogan O’Connor in the sixth minute after being set up by Niall Hynds, while goals two and three came in quick succession with Oisín Woodhouse taking advantage of a stray poc-out in the 22nd minute while Hynds set up Brogan O’Connor for goal number three da minute later.
By half time, St Killian’s, were 3-11 to 0-3 to the good, despite the fact that their wides count was now out to 11.
Within five minutes of the restart the Tower were 5-13 to 0-3 clear with Hynds grabbing his first goal and Joe McLaughlin adding his name to the list.

The highlight of the second half was a full length diving save from John V Morgan in the Tower goal to turn away a great low shot from Knock’s Shea Pucci. Knock’s chances were limited after that and despite introducing a series of subs the Tower’s total dominance continued. The other two goals came late in the half with Hynds and McLaughlin each bagging a second. The win sets Garron Tower up for a semi-final meeting with north Antrim rivals CPC.
