A GOAL from Conal O’Hagan in the 59th minute of a very hard-fought final in Corrigan Park yesterday gave St Joseph’s Ravenhill their first ever Danske Bank Brother Sharkey Cup title.

St Colmcille’s made the running in each half with Aaron Keenan, Shane Brennan, Noah Miskelly and Eoin Keenan always prominent. However St Joseph’s stuck to their task and didn’t let them go too far ahead with great work from Siwan Ali, Gusty Teodorescu and half-forwards Fionn Dougan and Ryan Lagan.

Crossgar hit the front in the first quarter with scores from Noah Miskelly (two) and Conor Doran. All of them were from frees but during that period St Colmcille’s were also moving the ball well.

However the second quarter belonged to St Joseph’s and they took a lead of 0-4 to 0-3 into the break with points from Marcel Cebula, Micheal Curran and two late frees from Fionn Dougan.

Once again, St Colmcille’s started well and hit the first three scores of the second half through Shane Brennan, Doran (free) and Miskelly. Again they looked the more likely winner.

Seven minutes from time, Fionn Dougan pulled off a point back from a free, but the Crossgar boys defended well until the goal that came from a turnover in the Ravenhill Road side’s defence. Crossgar were caught a little for numbers in defence as the ball was worked across for O’Hagan and the Sarsfield’s lad took his chance well.
