Great start for Antrim Junior Camogs

Very Ireland National Camogie League Division 3B

Limerick 1-5 Antrim 0-10

ANTRIM Juniors had to come from behind in Cappamore, Limerick on Saturday to pick up the points in their opening game in Division 3B.

The Saffrons looked a little leg weary and off the pace in the opening half and were under constant pressure. However player of the match Anna McNeill, Caoimhe McNaughton and and Bronach Magill spearheaded a fine rearguard action and they trailed by just 1-4 to 0-4 at the break.

Limerick’s captain Valerie Shannahan accounted for all four Limerick points, while Phoenix Mulcaire-Shine scored the goal in the 16th minute. Last year’s Junior player of the year Dervla Cosgrove hit the opening two points for Antrim.

Antrim were a different team in the second half and Caitlin Crawford, Sinéad Cosgrove and newcomers Cara O’Boyle and Faye McIntosh led their charge back into the game.

Minor player O’Boyle hit five scores over the hour, including four in the last half hour.
