Ulster Colleges Year 10 Camogie
Cross And Passion College v St. Killian’s
8th March 2023.
CPC and Garron Tower served up a highly entertaining game of camogie in Ballycastle on Wednesday afternoon. CPC started the brighter with an early goal from Louise McBride and points from Eimear McCaughan and Cliodhna Thompson. St. Killian’s responded well when Eva McNeill converted a free.
Then following great work from Tamara Black, Eva McNeill cut into from the left wing to finish brilliantly to the CPC net. The Convent didn’t panic and they moved the ball upfield through the lively Adria McAlister, Cliodhna Thompson gathered around the square and her intelligent pass found Teagan Cassidy in space who made no mistake blasting past Laoiseach McNaughton in the Tower goals. Eva McNeill steadied the ship for St. Killian’s when she converted her second free of the day but CPC were showing the greater urgency. Louise McBride fired over a point and Cliodhna Thompson converted a 45 after a fine save from Laoiseach McNaughton. A long delivery by Adria McAlister glanced off Cliodhna Thompson’s stick to the net and with time running out in the 1st half Thompson again found Teagan Cassidy who finished to the back of the Tower net to leave the score at half time CPC 4-3 St. Killian’s 1-2.
St. Killian’s needed a good start to the second half and they got it. As conditions worsened Eva McNeill scored two points in the opening minutes to give the Tower girls hope. But this was soon extinguished Eimear McCaughan goaled with five minutes to go. And it was left to the excellent Adria McAlister to get the final point of the match. Final score CPC 5-4 St. Killian’s 1-4.
The game was played in an excellent spirit with plenty of top quality performances from both teams. CPC were well served by Fiadh Sands and Brid O’Kane in defence, Adria McAlister and Louise McBride in midfield and Teagan Cassidy and Cliodhna Thompson up front. Best for Garron Tower were Erin McNaughton and Aibrean Campbell at the back, Eva McNeill at midfield and Tamara Black up front.
CPC scores T Cassidy 2-0, C Thompson 1-2, L McBride 1-2, E McCaughan 1-0, A McAlister 0-1.
