McAuley goal sees Enda’s climb the table

ACFL Division 1

Casement’s Portglenone 1-8 St. Enda’s 1-11

A goal from county player, James McAuley helped St. Enda’s climb the table as they recorded an excellent win away to previously unbeaten Portglenone at Kelly Park last night. The Casement’s topped the table going into this clash and were expected to add another scalp to their belts but St. Enda’s had other ideas.

With their county panellists, James McAuley, Peter Healey and Odhran Eastwood all on board they took the game to the opposition as they moved the ball about with confidence against a Portglenone side who were always in contention but were never quite able to get there.

Eastwood always looked a handful up front for the Glengormley side and finished the game with 0-4 to his credit while Peter Healey, Fionn Nagle and Conan Lyttle provided energy and drive over the hour.

Niall McKeever got the Portglenone goal while Ronan Kelly 0-2, Oisin Doherty 0-2, Ciaron McKenna 0-2, Odhran McGarry and Scotchy O’Hagan were their point scorers but the second goal that they needed to turn this game around never looked like coming.

Casement’s remain tops with 10 points from six starts but the division looks wide open with St. Mary’s Aghagallon and St. Johns on 8 points, Cargin on 7 and St. Gall’s, St. Enda’s and Ahoghill all on 6 after last night’s results.
