Football League Fixtures (previews) Wed 26th April

Another full list of fixtures scheduled for Wednesday evening with games in all of the divisions.

Wed 26th April

Division One

All games at 7.15 pm

St Brigid’s v St Johns

St Brigid’s opened their account last time with victory over Rossa and they will return to Musgrave Park for the visit of St. John’s hoping to build on that result.

The Johnnies have been in fine form in the 2023 season and have recorded four victories to date but they lost last time to the visiting Aghagallon and will hope to return to winning ways in this one.

St Brigid’s seemed to turn a corner last time with that win at Rossa but this may well prove a more difficult assignment and a share of the spoils and a draw is possible.

St Ergnat’s Moneyglass v Tir na nOg

Moneyglass have been faring well in their return to the top grade and although they lost out to Cargin last time, they gave the reigning county champions a run for their money, losing out by a point.

Tir na nOg have struggled to gain points to date with only a single win and they will travel to Marian Hill seeking better but the current climate would point to a home win and another brace of points for the St Ergnat’s men.

St Mary’s Ahoghill v St Gall’s

Ahoghill gave the visiting Cargin a scare in their previous game and followed with a win last time at Tir na nOg and Chris Mc Glone’s charges will return to Clooney for the visit of St Galls.

Paddy Mc Shane’s side have been faring well this term as a win over the visiting league champions Creggan last time underlines.

A 2-10 to 1-09 victory over the Kickham’s men would suggest that they are in good shape and they will start this one as favourites.

The home side are never easily beaten at Clooney however and are more than capable of causing upset.

St Enda’s v Erin’s Own Cargin

Cargin had to dig deep to gain a full return of the points last time when Moneyglass visited Toome and they will face another test as they visit Hightown to meet St Enda’s.

The Glengormley side ended the winning run of Casement’s last time with a three point victory over John Mc Keever’s men at Kelly Park.

St. Enda’s seem to be running into a bit of form and they will be hoping to collect another major scalp from the visit of Cargin and this one could be close.

Kickham’s Creggan v Lamh Dhearg

Creggan lost last time out up at Milltown to St. Gall’s and welcome Lamh Dhearg to the Staffordstown Road for this one.

Lamh Dhearg have only one victory to date and face another tough test with a close one in prospect but ground advantage is likely to tip the balance in favour of the Kickham’s men.

St Mary’s Aghagallon v Casement’s Portglenone

Having lost their unbeaten record to the visiting St Enda’s last time Casement’s will travel to Aghagallon hoping to get back to winning ways as they face Pete Mc Grath’s St Mary’s.

Aghagallon had a good win at Corrigan Park in their last outing and a win here would see them move to the top of the league. A close one looks in prospect with a share of the spoils not to be ruled out.

Division Two

All games at 7.15 pm

Patrick Sarsfield’s v St Teresa’s

This all city clash sees the Paddies play hosts to St Teresa’s at the Bear Pit. Sarsfield’s have struggled to date with a share of the points with St Paul’s their only reward so far and they will be hoping for better this time.

Sarsfield’s are capable of better however and if they can produce their best then a win here looks possible.

All Saint’s Ballymena v St Paul’s

All Saint’s lead the way in the division and will be hoping for another win as they welcome St Paul’s to Ballymena.

They had a good win at Gort na Mona last time and will have home advantage for this one hoping for another win.

St Paul’s have found the going tough this year but games between these two have been close in the past and although All Saint’s will start this one as firm favourites it could be closer than expected.

St Joseph’s Glenavy v Cuchullian’s Dunloy

Dunloy have found the going tough and the reigning Intermediate champions still await a first win in the division as they take the road up to Glenavy.

Glenavy have been in good form recently with four wins to date and remain in touch with the top of the table.

They claimed a win over St Paul’s last time out and will return to Chapel Hill in a positive frame of mind.

Dunloy are more than capable of better but the present climate suggests a home win and a couple more points for St Josephs.

Gort na Mona v Michael Davitt’s

Gort na Mona suffered relegation at the end of 2022 and after a good start in division 2 they have slipped lately.

The West Belfast men remain within touching distance of the top of the table at present and will be hoping to get back to winning ways against the visiting Michael Davitt’s.

Davitt’s have recorded three wins and two draws from their five starts to date are more than capable of challenging for honours in this division.

This one is certain to be well contested with ground advantage possibly tipping the balance in favour of the Gorts.

Kickham’s Ardoyne v St James Aldergrove

Kickham’s suffered defeat to St. Teresa’s last time out and have won only two of their five starts to date but results have not always reflected their performances.

Aldergrove are unbeaten to date and they will travel in search of another couple of points following a good victory over the visiting Con Magees last time.

St. James will travel as favourites but they should be wary of Ardoyne at Fennell Park and this one could be close with Aldergrove given a tentative nod.

Con Magees Glenravel v St Patrick’s Lisburn

Co Magees Glenravel suffered their first defeat of the season away to St. James Aldergrove, last Wednesday night but should get back to winning ways when St. Patrick’s Lisburn visit Fr. Maginn Park.

The Lisburn men are struggling to maintain the pace required in this grade and are still awaiting their opening victory and the present climate would suggest a home win for Glenravel.

Division Three

All games at 7.15 pm

St Agnes v Patrick Pearses

The Aggies lost heavily to O’Donnell’s last time out and face another stiff challenge from the visit of Pearses. Last year’s Junior champions lost to Laochra Loch Lao last time out but should get back to winning ways here.

St Malachy’s v Wolfe Tones

The men from the Markets area of the city are struggling for consistency this term but they are expected to gain a win in this one as North Belfast based Wolfe Tones pay a visit.

Cardinal O’ Donnell’s v St Mary’s Rasharkin

Rasharkin have started their league campaign well and are currently unbeaten but this could prove to be their toughest task to date as they travel to MacRory Park to meet an in form O’Donnell’s and this one could go either way.

Eire Og v St Comgall’s Antrim

Antrim based St Comgall’s have been inconsistent this season but they will travel up to South Belfast for this one and may well collect the points at the expense of Eire Og.
