Antrim LGFA Division 1
Glenavy 4-12 Aldergrove 2-11
Glenavy got the better of their local rivals Aldergrove when the sides met in Monday evening’s Antrim LGFA Division 1 game at Chapel Hill. In a highly entertaining game there was little to separate the sides at half time, the home team leading by 1-7 to 1-6 with the Glenavy goal coming from newcomer Anna Rice while Nichola Jones got the Aldergrove major.

With country star Grainne McLaughlin coming more and more into the game Glenavy stretched their lead to three just after the break, but Bronagh McGuinness pulled one back for the visitors soon afterwards to cut it back to two. Anna Mulholland added a point to restore the three point cushion and the home team struck a telling blow soon afterwards when Graine McLaughlin fired home her team’s second goal.
Bronagh McGuinness pulled a couple back for Aldergrvoe with two points from frees but two more goals from McLaughlin and Mulholland all but sealed the win as they opened up a a 4-10 to 1-9 lead by the second half water break. The lead was out to twelve points soon afterward, and though Aldergrove put in a strong finish with two more points from Bronagh McGuinness, and a goal from a penalty by Paula Masterson, the destiny of the points had already been decided.
