ACFL Division 1
St. Enda’s 1-9 Moneyglass 3-9
On a perfect evening for football, it was St. Ergnat’s who maintained their excellent form when they travelled to Hightown to meet St. Enda’s.
It was the South West side who opened the scoring through Seanhanan Duffin from a mark the same player followed with another from play to leave the away side two up after five minutes.
The home side got their first point of the game through Fionn Nagle but St. Ergnat’s at this point began to dominate scoring the next 3 points from Colm Duffin (free) and 2 from Seanchann Duffin (frees ) to leave it 0-5 to 0-1 after 17 minutes and the visitors were good valued for their lead.
St. Enda’s were badly in need of points and they came back strongly in the final ten minutes of the opening half with Ronan O’Neill scoring three points and Odhran Eastwood to leave it all square at the break with both sides on five points.

The visitors needed a response and they got it with only a minute of the new half gone when Seanchann Duffin struck with the game’s opening goal to put a wee bit of distance between the sides.
St Enda’s replied with a point from Fionn Nagle but back came the Marion Hill side but Moneyglass were beginning to find their feet with Seanchann Duffin causing problems every time he got his hands on the ball.
Duffin added another point and Conaill Prenter got his name on the scorecard to move the visitors 1-7 to 0-6 ahead with the away side now looking in a commanding position.
However St. Enda’s continued to battle hard and were rewarded for their efforts when Odhran Eastwood got through for a goal after 7 minutes to close the gap to the minimum and it still looked anybody’s game at this stage.
Moneyglass held their nerve and went 2 ahead again from an excellent Conaill Prenter point, but after this the scoring dried up for a time with neither side able to raise a flag.

Substitute Tiernan T McCormack got the ball rolling again when he burst through the home to defence to score the South West side’s second goal to put them 4 ahead again with 18 minutes gone but again St. Enda’s found a response.
The Hightown side hit three on the bounce through Odhran Eastwood (0-2) and Michael Morgan to close the gap to one once more and put the contest right back in the balance.
With both sides pushing for the win it was left to St. Ergnat’s talisman, Colm Duffin to wrap matters up as he fired over a point and followed with his side’s 3rd goal to settle the contest and give his side another brace of points .
