Orlaith Prenter has had a great season so far

Moneyglass and Antrim star Orlaith Prenter is a very talented, but modest young lady who really doesn’t know how good she is.

Orlaith had a fantastic season for her club St Ergnat’s who won back to back senior championships and went on to make history in the Antrim LGFA, only missing out on an Ulster title.

Her Moneyglass Club manager Charlie OKane says

Orlaith is a role model for the LGF. Her talent is second to none. We all see her display of it when she’s representing her county but what everyone doesn’t see is her hard work and dedication at club training and matches. She is a delight to work with and has great passion for the game.

Orlaith was modest as ever when she spoke to Saffron Gael

It’s been a great year so far with the county and with the All Ireland series coming up hopefully that success can continue. The first aim at the start of the year was to get out of division 4, we knew it was a massive task but one we were more than capable of and thankfully we got over the line against Leitrim. Seven of us from Antrim made it onto the team of the league and it was great to see so many from Antrim represented, it’s a great feeling winning an award like that after the hard work you’ve put in from the start of the year and was great to see a few different clubs from Antrim represented.

Winning promotion from Division 4 set us up well going into the Ulster championship, it was a massive step up from last year now playing against Intermediate teams, but a step up we were ready for and something we had been training towards since the start of the year. We played Monaghan first and probably shocked some people with the performance we put in and the result, but once we had the first game under our belts there was no reason we couldn’t push on in the final and come away with an Ulster intermediate title. We knew Tyrone would push us right to the end but thankfully the work we’ve put in over the last few months stood by us. Winning the golden boot for the intermediate series was a special feeling, especially being up against great forwards from Tyrone and Monaghan, and of course the forwards we have ourselves in Antrim, but I suppose it makes you feel like you’re doing your job right on the pitch, and makes the extra hours you spend at the pitch away from training practicing frees worth it.

Orlaith’s achivements this season included

Division 4 team of the league

Division 4 final player of the matc
