Antrim Hurling League – Division 2
Oisins 0-15 St Gall’s 1-19
St Gall’s travelled to Glenariffe on Sunday and beat the Oisins by 1-19 to 0-15, a result which moves the Belfast side within a point of their oppoenents in the league table. With both teams short a good few regulars Glenariffe made a decent start and soon went two ahead with points from Caolan O’Connor and Arnie Cosgrove, but St Gall’s were soon back on terms as Ryan Irvine pointed a 65 and former Cushendun star Leo Morgan added one from play in the seventh minute.

The O’Connor brothers Caolan and Brogan put the Oisins two clear again but after Cormac Sheehan cut the gap back to one Mark Napier got in for the only goal of the game in the 14th minute. That goal gave the visitors a big lift and they pushed on to lead by 1-10 to 0-9 at the break.
Glenariffe started the second half with points from Oliver Kearney and Caolan O’Connor to close the gap back to two but Leo Morgan and Mark Napier soon restored the four point cushion for the men from the Bog Meadows. A great solo run and shot by Sheehan increased the lead to three and it was out to four when Patrick Friel sent over. With ten minutes left to play the home team had a great chance to get back into the game when they were awarded a penalty. A goal at this stage would have left it anybody’s game but Caolan O’Connor’s well struck shot came back off the outside of the upright and was cleared to safety. That was as close as the Oisins would get as St Gall’s finished strongly with two points from Leo Morgan and one from Patrick Friel to run out winners by seven points
