Dunloy beat Cushendall to seal their first win

Under 19 Hurling League

Dunloy 5-18 Cushendall 4-14

Dunloy beat Cushendall in Monday evening’s Under 19 Hurling League game at Pearse Park in a high scoring game.

Both teams had their periods of ascendancy but Dunloy held the upper hand for most of the game and an early goal from Conal Elliott put them clear. Another goal by Ryan Mort on fifteen minutes saw the gap widen but Cushendall hit back with goals from Niall McGarel and Padraig McKillop, but Dunloy’s Ryan Mort got his team’s third before the break to help them to a 3-10 to 2-8 lead at the break

Points from Ryan Scott, and Ben O’Kane, plus a Dara Watterson goal at the start of the second half stretched the Dunloy advantage to ten, but the Ruairis hit back with points from Joseph McNaughton, Oisin Woodhouse and a goal from Austin Birt to keep in touch.

A goal from Daire McMullan all but sealed the win and though Austin Birt came back with a late goal for the ‘Dall it was too little too late and the young Cuchullains sealed their first win by a seven point margin.
