ACFL Division 1B
St. Brigid’s 1-14 Tir na nOg 0-13
A goal from Niall Duffy in this tense relegation encounter at Musgrave Park on Sunday proved the vital score as St. Brigid’s climbed out of the bottom three to leave the Randalstown men rooted at the bottom.
The visitors gave as good as they got after Duffy’s opener and played some excellent controlled football to bring themselves right back into contention to lead by two at the halfway stage with Darra Fagan and Aaron McNeilly spearheading the comeback.
The second half followed a similar pattern to the first with both sides sitting deep and hitting on the break but the introduction of county player, Paddy Finnegan added a bit of spark to the Brigid’s attack.

Finnegan’s cameo appearance began to created scoring opportunities for his colleagues and they finished strongly to pull away in the end with Peter King, James Smyth and Niall Duffy to the fore
Darra Fagan for Tir na nOg was the outstanding player on the day and finished the game with a personal contribution of 0-8 while Aaron McNeilly was also prominent for a Tir na nOg side who showed enough on the day to suggest they can climb away from their present precarious position in the table.
