President elect opens new Cargin club premises

GAA President elect, Jarlath Burns attended Erin’s Own GAA Cargin on Saturday to preside over the official opening of the club’s state of the art premises.

The former Armagh Ulster Championship winner in 1999 was taken on a tour of the premises by vice chairman, Aidan Johnston, which includes a well-equiped jymnasium and stopped to chat to members of the club on his journey.

Amongst the guests attending were county chairman, Ciaran McCavana, new Parish Priest, Fr. James O’Reilly and Declan Kearney from Sinn Fein.

The president elect stopped to have his photograph taken with some of the clubs juvenile teams who were taking part in exhibition games on the pitch adjacent to the new premises.

He then spoke to the big crowd that attended the event and complimented the club on its success on and off the field before cutting the tape to mark the opening of the new clubrooms

Jarlath was then invited to the club’s luxurious bar and kitchen department and joined with guests in a cup of tea and refreshments while listening to music provided by St. Oliver Plunkett P.S. Traditional group.

Club secretary, Roisin McKeever then presented the forthcoming president with a large hamper in appreciation of his visit to the club.
